ABSTRACT:
A philosophical perspective is reported in this empirical study about the teacher’s attitudes towards their own understandings of the knowledge’s nature and how learning takes place. They express in their statements -in 54 interviews in depth- their epistemological beliefs about the science’s nature, acquisition of knowledge, cognitive and learning’s metacognitive strategies, motivation and values. Then, these understandings are related to teachers’ practice, as reported by the teachers themselves.

Those attitudes about learning constitute a peculiar reflection of the answer from where philosophy has deal the knowledge’s problem. The approachement over the nude experiences of the teachers’ learning has made possible the grasp of following the qualitative method of phenomenography, with deep Husserl’ influences, right for social construction of phenomena meanings.
